Greyhound Standards – Characteristics and Qualities

Akin like any other breed, the Greyhounds are familiarly known for its characteristic features and qualities. Here is a brief description that describes all qualities of greyhound standards.

Head – Greyhounds have a narrow, long head along with wide ears. The nasal is little developed and of course remains sinewy with no coarseness. The teeth in front are also strong, where they can efficiently chew the foods quicker and faster.

Ears – With fine texture, the ears of these greyhounds are small. The ears are folded gently and are thrown far back! They appear to be semi-pricked, apart from the times while they turn excited.

Eyes – Greyhounds are known for its indicating, intelligent, smart, bright and dark spirit. They efficiently spot things better and remain vigilant and watchful.

Neck – The neck is slightly arched and appears to be muscular and long. They extend wider along with the shoulder that appears to be wide and free from throatiness.

Shoulders – Shoulders are side along, whereby it appears to be muscular!

Legs – Greyhounds walk with perfect straight legs, which are set along with the shoulders. Either they turn in or out, greyhounds appear to be strong and healthy.

Now while considering the overall appearance, the chest is deep and wide. The back portion of the greyhounds is broad and remains muscular. The coat appears to be smooth and moreover they are stiff in texture. They weight around 65 to 70 pounds, which makes greyhounds more elegant. Greyhounds are friendly and easy to manage, and moreover it expects a friendly training.
