Leash training your greyhound is a challenging, but an essential one. Training the greyhound to walk on a leash from a very young age is not a bad idea. In fact, it’s advisable that greyhounds are trained from a very young age.

Before starting the training, buy a good collar and let your greyhound get used it. Do not use a choke collar, might give greyhounds a bad idea about collars. When putting the collars, do it gently and with utmost care and also make sure that the collar properly locked. At first, they might get troubled with the idea of having a collar; give them time to get used to the collar, which they surely will at some part of time.
Once it gets used to collars, attach a leash to the collar. Do it gently, to make sure that it doesn’t associate the collar and leash with fear or pain. Grant them little time to get used to the idea of having leash. A nice way to effective the leash training is by using the leash during meal times, as this can induce your dog with pleasant memories about the leash.
Once your dog gets used to the fact of having a leash, take it for stroll down the park. Do not lead them instead allow them to lead you. Let them have the impression that they have the freedom to move around even with a leash. Leash training must be pleasant in every aspect in order to be effective.
