For small dogs, plastics crate are sufficient, since they are not heavy and as the dogs are not sharp chewers, they cannot chew it. Moreover, the plastic crates are also easily transportable. For medium size dogs, it is good to have a combination of plastic and metallic crate. As the window of such crate is made of metallic, they provide complete safety for the dogs and as the plastic edges are not sharp they prevent the dogs from being injured.

For bigger dogs wooden crates are the best. As the big dogs are good chewers it is best to place the dogs in wooden crate. They may be heavy and may be difficult for transportation, but provide good safety for the dogs and many wooden crates are available with comfortable dog’s bed and rug.

Crate is the place where the dog feels most safe and secure. But the crate should not be used as a lock-up place for dogs. They should be put in the crate at different times in a day. The crate should be made as a fun place by placing hound’s favorite toys and other animal stuffs. They should not be kept in an isolated place that makes the hounds feel lonely. The hounds should be able to see their owners from their crates even at night time.
